As we begrudgingly switch out our Summer wardrobe (we love you vacuum bags), kiss goodbye to our pathetic but v. aesthetically pleasing straw hats and burrow into the comfiest knitwear we own, we might find ourselves jonesing for reinvention, a hair restyle of some sort, an autumnal makeup palette or a new set of nails to set our gourd-loving souls aflame. Or, ya know, a puppy.
If you’re eager to try a few new lewks this season, here’s a run-through of the best of beauty, from hair and makeup through to nails, as spotted on the runways and the Instagram reels.
Wondering when to try out the Kendall Jenner bun, the cowhide mani, a 70’s swinging fringe, or bold blue liner, now’s your chance! Brb, just calling my hairdresser.

Sweeping 70’s Bangs
Queen of the Farrah Fawcett ‘do’ Matilda Djerf has been rocking these beautiful sweeping bangs for a while. Achieve the look by curling your fringe up and away from your face with rollers/straighteners/curling tong OR search ’70shair’ on Tik Tok and be amazed.

Natural Curls
Plop drop and roll people. Natural, no-heat curls are great for those who want to enhance their natural curl or waves. Only brush through your hair with a leave-in conditioner and dry your locks with a t-shirt. Plop your hair by tying it up on top of your head with said t-shirt and leave it overnight for the best results. When you wake up in the morning simply run your fingers through your beautiful natural curls.

Bubble Ponytail
Spice up a classic by turning your low pony into a bubbled bonanza. Use clear elastics to separate sections and pull apart at the seems to create your bubbles. Make sure the finish is extra chic by covering the elastic at the base of your head with some of your hair.

Bows
Brilliant bows are making a comeback. Combine them with messy plaits and ‘half up-half down’ styles to offset the cutesy vibe. Extra points if you can match your mask to your bow.

The Kendall Jenner Bun
Made famous by Kendall Jenner and her hairstylist Jen Atkin this high middle part bun blends simplicity with style. Separate the front section of your hair out and tie the rest in a bun, then split the front section into a middle parting and work it around the bun, hold in to place with hair ties or bobby pins.

Blue Eyeshadow
No need to feel blue with eyeshadow like this. Apply concealer or white base to the lid to give your blue maximum pigment power then apply your shadow without a care in the world. Bring it down to the lash line for an added 60’s Twiggy vibe.

Over Liner
Over liner has no rules, apply it in any colour, anywhere you like, have fun with it! Head over to makeup application wizard Katie Jane Hughes for all the best tutorials.

Fluffy Brows
Fluffy brows have been ‘in’ for ages but now they’re taking a visit north. Lamination or Soap Browns help to bring the hairs upwards and thus appear bushy and beautiful.

Lip Stains
Just bitten lips are replacing a full matte pout with stains and soft glowing edges. Ditch your lip liner in favour of this effortless style.

Vampy Eyeshadow
Just in time for Halloween dark, smokey, vampy eye shadow with beautifully blended edges is on everyone’s mind (and eyes).

Cow Hide
Mooooove over pastel shades. Cow pattern nails are all the rage for autumn. Jump on this fad quick as it’s sure to be milked by everyone. Also, make as many dairy puns as you can whilst you have them, it won’t be cringe or annoying AT ALL.

70’s Swirls
70s swirls and groovy patterns are perfect for jazzing up your paws. Yeah baby yeah!

Gradient Tones
Can’t choose a specific shade but know which colour you want to go with? Just pick 5 and have them all!

Matte Nails
A super cool finish for any manicure, this one looks great when you have your natural nail colour peeping through.

Abstract Lines
We love this look for home interiors and prints so why not pop it on our nails too? This one needs a delicate hand but will be SO worth it when they’re done.
